Coming Soon: Sagittarius stream with RR Lyrae in Gaia DR2
Ramos, Mateu, Antoja, Helmi, Castro-Ginard Balbinot, submitted
More to come:
- Median proper motions of the Sagittarius stream along its path
- Interpolation used to obtain the smooth curves given as a pickle Python object and instructions on how to read them
CMD of the member candidates along the Sagittarius path
The colour-magnitude diagram of the Sagittarius stream and dwarf is shown through its path on the sky. The Red Clump stars change its magnitude becoming brighter or fainter as we observe closer or more distant portions of the stream.
Wavelet Transform in proper motion space along the Sagittarius path
The Wavelet is a mathematical transformation that we use to detect peaks in proper motion space. We see a peak corresponding to Sagittarius (grey cross) moving in proper motion space continuously as we probe the path of the stream through the sky. A white cross shows the proper motion of the stream from the Law and Majewski 2010 model, which runs very close to our detection with Gaia data.
